On May the 23rd, 2015, the Asia Institute of Sciences set up a workshop to share knowledge with the participation of doctors and students from the University of Belmont in the United States and the students of the Asia Institute of Sciences. This is the 3rd time that the group of students of BELMONT University has had field trip at the Institute with the aim of sharing experience and knowledge related to nursing and midwifery skills with AIS students. The group of students from BELMONT University appreciated organizing this seminar at the Asia Institute of Sciences, which is the first institute in Cambodia that every examination and scoring all subjects is used by the computer system. All the students have done internships at national and international hospitals in Phnom Penh and provinces so that students have performed on its own. The Institute also has a lot of books and documents as well as the Online Library containing sufficient documentation for student research.

Meanwhile, the group leader of students Miss Susan from the University of Belmont is so pleased to share experience and knowledge with the students of the AIS. Topics addressed include:

  • Hand Washing & Infection Control
  • Physical Assessment
  • SBAR
  • Vital Signs
  • Urinary Catheterization
    • Regular foley catheter insertion
    • CAUTI (Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections)
      • (this was the special program we did last year and provided the school with all the videos and documents in a binder and gave the electronic copies of all the presentations and documents on a USB drive)

Meanwhile, she also appreciated the AIS’ students who study hard, and she hopes to make another visit next year.
