Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM)

 

1. Course objective

To enhace midwifery students with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to function effectively as a midwife in contributing to maternal and child health care in Cambodia. 

 

2. Learning outcomes

Graduates from the four-year program will:

  • Apply the knowledge of policies and procedural guidelines that have legal implications for professional
  • Apply the nursing process with emphasis on critical thinking, patient care, therapeutic midwifery inventions, and effective interpersonal communication skills as they relate for success in midwifery profession.
  • Apply the ethical, legal, economic, and political concept, showing a positive attitude and respect for. people regardless of economic status, customs, beliefs, religion, race arid politics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate comprehensive ·and high-quality care to patients, families and the communities in line with the standards of midwifery practice for safe motherhood.
  • Use the primary health care approach to help meeting basic health needs in the community with participation of community.
  • Be responsible for continuing professional development with an awareness of changing health trends.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assume leadership and consultative role within the health team
  • Be able to conduct research for evidence-based decision making for improving reproductive health status of women, children and communities.
